Sometimes we forget to consider the opportunities wide open to us. Use this space to share your experiences and tips in publishing. Where did you publish? Are there different kinds of publishing? How useful are student publications? What was it like to work with an editor? What was it like to be an editor?

  • Keep in mind that there are a number of different publication venues. You have your
    • brochures that you contribute to/design at work anyway
    • student publications like the SLIS Descriptor and the Call Number that are excellent ways to reach your peers, get some experience working with an editor, and seeing your name in "lights."
    • association newsletters where they are frequently looking for relevant articles.
    • letters to the editor & laymen publications are great places to reach non-library users and related professionals
    • scholarly publications which are the most competitive publications in this list.
